Training on Artificial Intelligence for Peace building

Ethio Afric Raising Consulting (EARC) in collaboration with CCRDA held A three-day training program on “Artificial Intelligence for Peace building” for Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) held from May 21-23, 2025, at CCRDA training hall.

The training aimed to build the capacity of Ethiopian CSOs to understand, ethically use, and advocate for AI in peacebuilding. Participants gained basic AI knowledge, explored its use in conflict-related work, practiced with AI tools, and discussed ethical and governance challenges specific to Ethiopia.

It indicated that AI Supports peacebuilding by analyzing diverse data to reveal conflict patterns and root causes; strengthens early warning systems by analyzing data to predict conflicts and enable timely responses; enables real-time conflict monitoring, helping organizations respond swiftly to emerging crises and aids dialogue by translating languages and summarizing discussions, enabling inclusive communication.

The training used an engaging, interactive approach that blended theoretical presentations with practical activities, group discussions, and real-life case studies and highlighted AI’s powerful role in conflict prevention and humanitarian support, Ethiopia’s specific challenges which are data scarcity and quality, inadequate infrastructure and connectivity, a talent gap in AI expertise, evolving ethical and regulatory frameworks, and economic constraints , the need for ethical and inclusive AI, and the vital role of civil society in promoting ethical AI, rights advocacy, and bridging the digital divide, despite facing challenges like limited resources and technical capacity.

Moreover, it empowered participants with essential AI knowledge and ethics, laying the groundwork for responsible innovation. EthioAfric remains dedicated to collaboration and inclusive AI development for all Ethiopian communities.
